各所で噂になっている佐藤琢磨の去就について、本人より声明文が届いていますのでお知らせいたします。

「トロロッソもしくはレッドブルとのサードドライバー就任に関する交渉は、もはや行なっていません。彼らと合意に至ることができなかったのはとても残念ですが、この先、何が起きるかはわかりません。皆さんもご存知のとおり、僕は決して諦めることなく、これからも自分の将来にとってベストな道筋を探し求めていくつもりです。

スクデリア・トロロッソが2009年のレースドライバーとして佐藤琢磨を選ばなかったことにひどく落胆しています。
　
参加した3回のテストを通じ、琢磨は類い稀なスピードと献身振りを示し、速いドライバーであることを充分に証明したと私は信じています。
　
チームの財政を支えるため、彼らが多額の資金を持ち込めるドライバーを起用する必要があったことは広く知られているとおりでした。我々は懸命に努力し、チームのサポートについて数多くのスポンサーと交渉を進めてきましたが、残念ながらシートを獲得するには充分といえなかったようです。
　
これまでと変わらず支援し続けて下さっているスポンサーの皆様や新規のスポンサーの皆様、そしてたくさんの琢磨ファンの皆様には、琢磨がレースシートを獲得できるよう様々な面でご尽力くださったことに心より感謝申し上げます。
今後、我々は新たな可能性を探ることになります。

Bourdais to test with STR next week

Sebastien Bourdais has moved a step closer to the second racing seat at Scuderia Toro Rosso, autosport.com has learned, as the Frenchman will test with the team next week at Jerez.

Toro Rosso are the only team yet to confirm their full line-up for the 2009 season, having only announced Sebastien Buemi so far.

However, autosport.com has learned that Bourdais is now on pole position to secure the second racing seat, and he will test with Toro Rosso in next week's test at Jerez.

Although there is no official confirmation yet, the four-time Champ Car champion looks certain to secure the seat.

Bourdais made his Formula One debut with Toro Rosso last season, but was largely eclipsed by teammate Sebastian Vettel in the second half of the season as the Frenchman felt the car did not suit his driving style.

With Bourdais now likely to secure the seat, Japanese Takuma Sato's chances of racing in F1 next year seems to have vanished.

The former Super Aguri driver tested for Toro Rosso at the end of last year and was one of the candidates for the second seat at the Italian squad.

Scuderia Toro Rosso is pleased to announce that Sébastien Buemi will drive for the team in the 2009 Formula 1 season.
The 20-year-old from Aigle, Switzerland competed in GP2 last year, when he was also the reserve driver for our sister team, Red Bull Racing. For most of his racing career, he has been supported by Red Bull as part of its Junior Driver programme.
Team Principal, Franz Tost commented: “We are delighted to welcome Sébastien, who was already part of the Red Bull family, to our team. Our engineers have been impressed with his speed in the car and his ability to learn and progress during the testing he has carried out for us last year. That, along with some impressive performances in GP2 was enough to convince us to give him the drive. His appointment also fulfils the aims of the Red Bull Junior Driver programme and meets Dietrich Mateschitz’s intention to use Scuderia Toro Rosso as a showcase for young drivers the company has supported in the lower formulae.”
“I am naturally very happy to be driving for Scuderia Toro Rosso this year,” said Sébastien Buemi. “Being a Formula 1 driver has always been my target, since I first started racing. This year, I will do all I can to bring home the best possible results and to show Red Bull that the confidence it has shown in me is justified. I want to thank Red Bull for this opportunity and for all the help they have given me in my career, dating back to 2005.”
Sébastien’s first track outing as an official Scuderia Toro Rosso driver will be at the test session held at the Portimao Circuit in Portugal later this month. An announcement about who will be Buemi’s team-mate will be made at some point before the Australian Grand Prix!

THREE DRIVERS TO TEST FOR TORO ROSSO

The line-up for the tests in Jerez next week has been announced.

On Tuesday Sébastien Bourdais and Sébastien Buemi will share duties. On Wednesday (December 10), Buemi, the Red Bull Racing 2008 third driver, will be in the car all day while Sébastien Bourdais will test in the morning and former Super Aguri driver Takuma Sato will test in the afternoon. Then on Thursday (December 10) Buemi and Sato will continue their runs.

We’ll have the times and reports from each day’s testing, so check back next week for all the latest.
